Team Phantasma branding

Team Phantasma is a Greek Esports team that operates at a European level. Communicating in both Greek and English, they rely on visuals to show both their competitive and community-focused sides. The logo stands out from the competition with its bold, no-nonsense style. The custom (self-made) typography and the other visuals do the rest.

Logo Design

The logo focuses on standing out with minimal extra items, as it will often be used as the only brand assets in competitions. It is based on the 3 items of Hekate (a Greek goddess closely connected with ghosts): a torch, a key, and the moon. It is also used to show the connection between the Greek and English fans, as it is read by English speakers as a “P” and by Greek speakers as a “Φ”. The first letter used to write Phantasma (Φάντασμα) in their language.

Typography

To bring it all together, I created a custom typeface based on gravestones. In order to show the community vs competition side of the team, it is split into 2 font types: clean and distorted. The clean stands for community, as it is based on a well-kept grave. Distorted is used for competitive communication, as it symbolizes a ruined grave and thus an angry ghost.
